In My Rotation 06-07-2016

It’s been a long time since I posted anything other than my podcast. Transition people. I never stopped bumping that good. Just my thoughts… Here’s what I’m currently listening to:

Havoc & The Alchemist The Silent Parnter

“I haven’t been the biggest fan of Havoc’s solo projects but this ish right here?! Havoc is always good for the potent raps. The production is varied enough to make the reoccurring content feel fresh. Are you looking for that M-O-B-B sound in 2016? Look no further. Lit!”

Chance The Rapper “Coloring Book

“If the hardcore themes of Havoc and Alchemist project doesn’t do it for you, this is might.  Chance The Rapper has put together one of the dopest projects of 2016. A Gospel inspired mixtape that combines hip-hop, soul, and spiritual concepts. The production alone is worth the price of admission (Free). Guest features that fit like a glove, this should be heard by anyone interested.”

Flatbush Zombies “3001: A Laced Odyssey

“Discovered these dudes about two years ago.  Always dug their vibe but they didn’t have a project for me to absorb until now. I feel like the Flatbush Zombies are an acquired taste. You are either into them or you’re not. With flows reminiscent of early 90s hip-hop, a nostalgic act they are not. It’s almost refreshing to hear these flows attached to sonically current production. Ride to this one.”

Maino & Uncle Murda Yellow Tape: King Kong & Godzilla

“That Brooklyn bullsh*t, I’m on it! Maybe I’m being a homer but I like this mixtape a lot. Maino and Murda make a good team.  Their rap styles are different enough to make the 17 track mixtape interesting. This is hardcore hip-hop. Gangsta rap. If you’re scared. GTFOH. Nah but seriously, if you are a fan of Gun Barz…this is for you.”

Royce Da 5’9 “Trust The Shooter/Layers

“Royce has put 2016 on notice with two equally hot projects.  The Trust The Shooter mixtape is the prelude to Layers the album. I flip flop between which one I enjoy more. This is lyrical overload. Royce is relentless in delivery. Rap on Steriods is just that. Break neck speed rhymes hard enough to get any fan amped. The intensity of the rhymes are reflected in the production.  From personal tales, to full on microphone assault. These are two projects that should definitely get a shot at making your rotation.”
